I Love Projects

So, I wanted a garden. Not knowing if we would be staying in our house, I planted veges in pots. Then, we found out we were staying and I then I realized my once thriving veges were not doing so hot. I knew they needed a new home where they could stretch their roots and produce.
A few pots of space deprived plants.

A deformed zucchini that can't get a good start.

One lonely snow pea with only ONE pea. How embarrassing!

Clearing a spot.

Jodi in all her painted toenail, blingin' shirt glory, sifting my rocks and dirt.

Jason and Rob doing all the work. Hey, someone had to hold the camera so it didn't get dirty.

My happy garden and English Laurel curtain.

I found "free soil" on craigslist, we went and shoveled it all into totes and brought it home. The free dirt even came with 2 mature shrubs. I then spent $20 on 3 Douglas Fir 12"X8's and we sifted every last inch of that dirt so it would nice and pretty. Even our dear neighbors got in on the fun. I was told that coffee grounds were good for the soil and so I called Starbucks. 20 pounds of free coffee later and we had a delicious garden. My sad little veges are thriving and happy. And I have a new English Laurel bush that hides the side of the house with the garbage cans.
Not that anyone cares, it is just what we did.

Those are some awesome planter boxes! I'm so glad your zucchini can now spread it's wings! Something keeps eating my zucchini. Everytime it starts growing something comes along and eats it off. We've put slug bait down but to no avail. Anyways, your garden is lookin' good!
