My 30th Birthday Half Marathon (more details to come)

To say that I am sore is an understatement but, I know many of you would love to hear a tidbit since I know I am anxious to hear all your stories as well.

Sunriver Pacific Crest Half Marathon
Finish Time: 3:20:09
Mile at which my knee gave out: 4

My only disappointment was that I was not able to run as much as I would have liked to. My breathing and energy levels were top notch but the pain I had in my knee was debilitating. I lost my IT Band wrap at the marathon relay I did 3 weeks ago and I know that would have helped considerably. About half way through, my main fear was finishing but I talked myself through the pain as much as possible and finished with tears in my eyes. There was Rob, cheering me through the finish with 30 helium balloons for my birthday. The main thing that kept me going was that I wanted my t-shirt that said "finisher" on it. I was going to earn that title even if it was on my hands and knees.
The following picture is worth a thousand words as to the way I was feeling when I crossed that finish line. Overwhelming emotion of every kind. (As you can see, the lady behind me was in total awe of my awesomeness! :)

You are awesome! Chuck and I are currently training for the Portland Marathon in October. So nice to hear you made it. I can only hope that I can finish mine. My training mile time isn't much better than yours.
