I was energetic enough for once to venture out of the house and take the kids to a library sponsored event called Oceans of Magic. Honestly I didn't know what to expect but Louie Foxx (and his daughter/assistant, Ella) was a fantastically entertaining children's magician. The tricks were simple and sweet, his humor delightful and I laughed out loud the whole time. That hasn't happened in a long time. The joy on my kids' faces was "magical." It was the best hour of the whole week and it was FREE! They even got autographed posters (shown below).

One of my favorite parts was when he brought out the really really big magic wand. This poor little 6 year old was the volunteer and he didn't stand a chance at waving that thing over the hat.
But the highlight was my little Indiana getting chosen to be a volunteer. He was asked to ring a bell but it kept "breaking" when Louie would hand it to him.
The picture is awful quality but look at the smile on that boys face!
He was hysterical.
Then on Saturday, we headed out in the mist to the Washington Midsummer Renaissance Faire in Buckley. We were treated to a magic show first thing there and it was infuriating. I hate that I can't figure out how he does it. Jeffrey was quite spunky and I fell in love with him. The kids thought they had him all figured out but that was part of his plan...it was quite amusing. We all ended up being tricked. Aaaahhhh. I hate magic.
As soon as it was over, he came out of character and his true warmth really came out. He asked about our family and was very genuine. I want him as my grandpa.
Rob was bad and got caught.
Just the girls with some pirates. Indy wouldn't go near them. Olivia only would with the promise of ice cream.
Eden really wanted to try the archery but at $5 for 4 arrows, I quickly "shot" her down. She surprises me all the time by wanting to be the experimentalist. She'll try almost anything. I wish we could afford to pursue all her wishes. She gets so excited about the smallest things.
She settled for a picture by the sign and a promise that she could hang it on her wall at home.
All in all, the faire was quite entertaining because of all the costumes. I have never seen so much boobage in all my life. Just another excuse for people to dress up in revealing clothing. They had fun foods like turkey legs and gyros. They had jousting and cannon shooting. One of my favorite things was a guy on stilts who was blowing bubbles and then catching them, magically turning them into glass balls. It was genius and it thrilled all ages.
It was fun.
