I would like to bring to your attention an error that most people have been making their whole life, including myself. This error is drinking tasteless, mediocre, cow juice. Don't get me wrong, this tasteless, mediocre milk is cheaper than organic and thus the reason I buy 5 gallons a week for my family to waste on cold cereal and thirst but if you are going to go for a giant, ice cold glass of this stuff to go with your fresh baked bread, don't grab a jug, grab a carton of Radiant Beam Divine Bliss Slap Your Mother Organic Valley Whole Milk. I just made that brand up, it's really just Organic Valley Whole Milk.
There she is...isn't she beautiful?
{Rays of sunshine and angels singing in a heavenly chorus}
I grew up on a dairy and had whole milk every day of my young life. I know myself some really good milk and consider myself not your average taste-tester.
I can't remember why or when I tried this for the first time but my "feel good" endorphins literally fired on all four cylinders at that moment and mouth to carton ensued. It was an embarrassing display of border-line, illegal PDA. There is something magical about the flavor of this stuff. Not too creamy but with a hint of sweetness that is a perfect pairing to any savory or sweet dish. Best when at arctic temperatures, the brain freeze is worth it. After a big gulp, I can't help but let out a heavy all-is-right-in-the-world sigh and for one small moment, I close my eyes, and I am floating in the clouds of youth and giddy smiles. I am not kidding people, this stuff is cocaine to me.
Or so I have heard about cocaine.
There are a few rules I would like to clear up here: these are NOT the same.
Jug = no no. Single Serving = repulsive.
So, do yourself a favor, splurge on the carton that never goes on sale and hoard it. Wrap it in duct tape and push it to the very back of the fridge lest you find it empty the next time you reach for a gift from the gods of pure happiness.
True: every now and then, you will find me on a particularly exhausting day, malnourished and parched, wherein I will find an indulgent treat and pour myself the perfect, tall, clear glass of the pure, white liquid and have myself a moment. Like a wine connoisseur, I will swirl the glass, sniff its creaminess, take a sip and swish that heaven around my mouth for full bodied flavor. Then I will kiss the cup and out loud say, "I love you." Rob knows I have only one true love and he is okay with it.
