Our Ward Pioneer Day Celebration turned out to be one for the books.
Eden and Rob jumped right into the 3-legged and wheel-barrel races and Eden lost in the second round of the stick pull which sent her into tears.

I reluctantly entered the women's category stick pull game and after serious effort that has put my back in knots, ended up winning the women's class. There were moments I thought my shoulders were going to pop right out of joint, especially in the first round against Marisa Calderwood. That slender woman packs some serious muscle. I think I only won because her grip gave out before her biceps did.
I won my box of candy and ribbon and promptly handed it over to Eden to stop her crying.
Up next was the Pull Off where all the champions
pulled against each other. You can hardly expect that to be fair considering it was men, women, teenagers and kids. Of course I sailed right through the 80 pound teenage boys with shear body strength (okay, who am I kidding, pure body weight) and then moved onto the "joke" round. There was no way I was taking home the victory against President Nelson. The man is a solid brick of muscle and height. I panicked and cried for a handicap. He was gracious enough to back down to one hand. He put up a good fight but in the end, one hand just couldn't hold on and he gave in and let me claim the victory of Stick Pull-Off Champion. It was a silly and laughable moment.

Now that sounds like a good time! Pioneer Day is such a huge deal out here in Utah that they don;t do any fun ward activites. My kids are too young to drag up to the Days of 47 parade (I'm not that good of a mother) so I really miss a ward activity. You go girl!! I say you set up a stick pulling competition for the next family reunion and give us pointers!
Love that last picture! It was a fun party for sure.
