Picnic @ the Locks

On a sunny day during spring break, we drove our little family out to the ever famous, Hiram M. Chittenden Locks (aka Ballard Locks) for an afternoon of watching boats pass through the canals.

Although this was our second time, it was Rob & Tatum's first.

As these boats wait for the water to rise, it is a riveting encounter with patience.

Our picnic of wheat thins, apples, string cheese and capri suns and cookies.
On our way home, we stopped by a Seattle icon...Dick's Hamburgers, and decided to indulge in the tourist experience. As excited as I was over the low prices, I was less than impressed with the quality. I refuse to waste my time on a soggy, pathetic hamburger when I grew up on a dairy eating quality, hand-formed beef patties charbroiled over a real fire grill.

I'll be darned if this little 30-pound 1-year old didn't eat 3/4 of that 1/4 pound burger all by herself. She was in American fast food heaven...and I was in mediocre h&"#!

I've actually been to Dick's. Go figure. Didn't have their burger, but the milkshake was alright.
