We gathered a bunch of friends together at our neighborhood park today and had ourselves a par-tay! It turned out to be in the 90's today and although it was welcomed, our bodies did not have time to climatize since our rainy days early and we were all sweltering. Luckily, first on the agenda was our water kickball game.
We filled large tubs full of cold water and set them at the bases. Our huge exercise ball was the kickball and you weren't safe unless your foot was in the water. It was so refreshing, let me tell you. We all wanted to be up to bat so that we could stand in the water.
The kids were in love with third base and so that was a tricky spot but we played that until the hunger took over. We had a chicken grilling contest for lunch. Everyone brought their award-winning chicken ready to grill and then judges were chosen randomly to judge.
I had bought a box of chicken in a biskit crackers to give to the winner and ironically, my chicken won...so I took home my own box of chicken crackers. They're my favorite so I won't complain other than I wish someone else had one. (Just in case you want the recipe it is in my recipe column to the right for this week.) Aaron Zappe even took the time to show off some of his BMX skills for our pleasure.
We had hot dogs, cold watermelon, juice, macaroni salad and hot corn on the cob. Everything went smoothly and the kids had a great time on the playground and at our playdough table. I bought 12 tubs of playdough and all but one survived the grass.
I have a lot of utensils to cut, press and mold with so it went over well. The landscaper won't be pleased though. It was like gum in the grass. Play dough, whether played with inside or out, is of the devil. We all lathered on layers of sunblock and all ended up getting a little bit of sun. By the time we all left, we were overheated and tired.
But nothing perks up the tired kids like the neighbors inflatable water slide.
What a treat. We even played water limbo in our front yard.

Olivia would rather have her quiet spot by herself in our backyard in her personal spa. We filled the turtle sandbox with water and she just sits in it and plays. She is in heaven!!

What a day, I wish we could have invited everyone. We had a good turn out though. 11 adults and even more children. We all had a great time in the sun without a care.

Great party! I want a water slide like that, maybe I could go down it without popping it?
