Goodbye Old Friend

The time has finally come. Due to recent unfortunate events with my teeth, we have decided to sell Rob's precious Shadow to pay off the dentist. It was a hard decision but a necessary one. He had the puppy dog pout for awhile but all in all, he handled it quite well considering we sold off his first motorcycle he ever owned.

Rob put his heart and soul into that bike, making it louder, making it meaner (with skulls), making it his own. He changed the seat, painted the tank, added forward controls and new mirrors.

About 30 minutes after we listed it on craigslist, we had a buyer. Even though that buyer called at 11:00pm when we were in bed and at 6:30 the next morning before we were even awake, we still let him have it. It was kind of a weird situation since the guy couldn't even start the bike by himself and he didn't actually have a license. Oh, well, not my problem just hand over the money.

We also, took the plunge and sold off the motorcycle trailer as well. We had it custom made in Texas before we left and then it sold within a day. I think the rising gas prices have really made motorcycles a hot commodity. We are realizing now that if we had really been smart, we may have gotten double the price for it. Not to be greedy, we are counting our blessings for the help that it is.

So....goodbye old shadow. Rob will shed a tear for you tonight. A little bittersweet but having money in your pocket helps ease the pain a little.

Greater love hath no man than to sell his motorcycle to pay for his wife's dental bills. It would kill Kelly to have to part with his, so I can sympathize with Rob. Congrats on being able to keep your tooth. I can sympathize with you on that too. I've had my share of dental woes.
