Treasure Hunt

What a TREASURE last night was. For family home evening I decided to send Eden and Indy on the treasure hunt they have been begging for for weeks. I did this on short notice so the hunt was short and ill directed but I wish each of you could have seen their delight. They raced around to 3 different houses in their pajamas, giggling at the very thought of collecting treasure boxes.

A few minutes before, I had snuck over to some neighbor's houses and gave them a treasure box (that really opens!) with a clue inside. They were also given a puzzle piece. The kids rang doorbells and collected their clues. Then they were instructed to come back home and put their puzzle together. It was just 4 puzzle pieces that made up a picture of a girl praying.

We talked about the importance of prayer and started the goal for them to say them every night.

It was a lot of fun that I am sure I will be asked to do over and over and over again. YIPEE!

Hello. I stumbled onto your blog after searching for ideas for a backyard campout. You certainly are a creative mommy. 8-) I can imagine the excitement of your children and also the participating neighbors during the treasure hunt. This is something that I plan to do with my children. Thank you for sharing.
