We have some really wonderful neighbors who all have kids (16 in all ranging from ages 2-11) and we are outside most of the time together. If there is a hint of sunshine, we are out. One neighbor has a huge play structure that is the popular hang out and all the older kids love to trade pokemon cards. We all pitched in this past weekend for a yard sale, got some quality chat time in and the kids were outside in the sunshine, playing to their hearts content, for a record 11 hours on Friday.
Sometimes we get out our grills and barbecue, sometimes we draw with chalk and I hear they have a spectacular fireworks display that rivals anything in town. Sadly we will miss it this year due to our family vacation but we feel we have front row tickets to the hottest neighborhood in town.
Just last night everyone threw an impromptu Chinese food potluck. Within a couple of hours we had tables full of fried rice, homemade sushi, egg rolls, barbecued pork, crab cakes and salads. We all gathered in a circle and ate while the kids ran ramped through each others' yards. One of the best parts is that we don't have to drive anywhere to have a party. The picture was taken from our front yard. How great is that?
We are just so thankful for an environment where there is comradery and genuine concern for others. My kids play with friends every day and I get to hang out with the moms. It is a special place that we are privileged to be a part of. Thank you neighbors for letting us into the fold.

Sounds like a great neighborhood! It's always a risk when you move. You never know what kind of neighbors you will have. We are hoping to get to know ours a little better now that the weather is changing some. We've been here almost a year and only know a couple of them. You are blessed!
Good neighbor's are worth the wait. I LOVE living on a col-de-sac. Hold out and find the right place for your family, you'll never regret it.
