Who Knew?

We found out a little Seattle treasure today in the midst of when all seems too expensive and gloomy lately.

In Federal Way (just 22 minutes away), is the Gateway 8 Theaters. Tucked back behind See's Candy is the home of the $2 movies and on Tuesday, the $1 movies. (That is cheaper than renting it at the $1 (plus tax) kiosk in the grocery stores. Plus you have to wait 6 months for those.) Granted the movies at Gateway are about a month old but if you can wait...you get the whole theater experience. All 5 of us braved our first attempt at a movie together to watch Horton Hears A Who.

We all loved it and it was actually funnier than I had anticipated. It didn't hurt that I had pockets full of fruit snacks and yogurt drinks for the kids. We bought a $5 popcorn to share and the theater was essentially empty. We rounded out the evening with a single treat from See's Candies. A whole family outing for just $15. Now that is unheard of.

Favorite quote from the movie. "In my world everyone is a pony, and they all eat rainbows, and poop butterflies." -Katie (Rob's and my favorite character.)

Dollar movie theaters are hard to come by, I'm glad you found one. Portland's idea of a dollar movie cost $3.50. What a joke. HHAW was a cute movie!!
