I picked up my sister Katelyn and her husband Mike at the airport early Saturday morning since they flew in to carpool down to the reunion with us. They gave me the gift of free babysitting all day so that Rob and I could actually afford a date alone. At 11:30 we headed off to the Taste of Tacoma to see what that was all about at Point Defiance Park. We had no idea what to expect but found it to be a suped up carnival. Nothing too wonderful but everyone seems to like it since it is in it's 22nd year. We walked through the plethera of
food venders and finally settled on Australian Roadkill Grill and their pita vege wrap thingys and a lemonade. We found some shade in front of the live band stage and enjoyed the cool breeze for awhile. It was perfect.

We then headed out with Mike's GPS system in search of a candy store that didn't actually exist as we found out and so we stopped at Fred Meyer instead to load up on treats for our movie. We have been wanting to see Kung Fu Panda for months now and we finally enjoyed it at a dinky little theater in Tacoma. I thought it was funny but not the best I have ever seen. I think movies are always funnier the second time around for me. It was worth the money though and that is really saying something.
On our way home, after a long day of partying hard, sort of, we stopped at the Krispy
Kreme/Kool Kreme store off I-5 and tried their soft serve. They should definitely just stick to donuts because the ice cream was tasteless and icy. I have had better at McDonald's. We were so sugared out and it felt good for once.

We stopped for a cake at Fred Meyer on our way home so that we could all sing the official Birthday Song (which was coincidentely invented on my birthday, no joke) and I blew out candles. (2 and 4+5, I didn't have a 9).
We all played in the pool for a while and tried to pretend we were cool even though our house doesn't have air conditioning. Poor Katelyn, who is 6 months pregnant, was overheating.
We wrapped up the night with packing the car and letting the children stay up late since their bedrooms were in full sauna mode from the sun blaring in all afternoon. We all showered and laid, spread eagle for a couple of hours just to try and fall asleep.
Now, we are off right after church. I for sure will not be near a computer for at least a week so I hope this tides you over. In the mean time, I hope this gas pump tally will hope you feel
